ZEYBRAH is a not-for-profit, community based, cultural organization which creates quality programs for (a) cultural exchange between people of diverse cultures, and (b) experiential learning in the arts. ZEYBRAH draws its resources from cultures around the world, with emphasis on the cultural expressions of the peoples of Africa and the Caribbean.
There are two primary areas of programming:
(1) Art Expositions--i.e. art festivals, live performances of dance, music and drama, multi-media art exhibits, video and film screenings; and (2) Training and Education in the Arts--i.e. workshops in music, dance, drama and visual arts, lecture-demonstrations, panel discussions, educational trips, and communications-media training.
From its inception, ZEYBRAH has designed programs to encourage participation by the entire family. This orientation, plus our multi-cultural approach to arts and education, has struck a favorable chord among those 'touched' by our efforts. By providing programs at a nominal cost to this community, we offer opportunities for participation in very unique cultural experiences.
Our mission for the Oceans of Rhythm Festival is to bring diverse sections of the community together, for a family oriented, educational and recreational, multi-media festival, that will expand and broaden the experiences of all those who participate, both audience and artists.
One of our themes, Fruits of Rhythm, demonstrates through music, dance, video, etc., how the root rhythms of Africa have borne fruit in the New World. It is ZEYBRAH's aim to provide a vehicle for positive community growth and development.
